District 833 Plans to Increase Athletic and Activity Fees
The South Washington County School Board will act on the proposal at its June 28 meeting.
Looking to cut $100,000 from its budget, District 833 plans to increase activity and athletic fees, according to a release from the district.
The South Washington County School Board is set to act on the proposal—part of the approved $1.2 million in adjustments for the 2012-13 general fund budget—at its June 28 meeting.
The district is proposing an across-the-board increase of $25 in all Minnesota State High School League athletics and activities. The family cap will increase to a total of $475 per year per family, the release says. Free and reduced qualifying families will continue to have the same opportunity for participation.

Fees for activities and athletics have not increased since 2003, according to the release, and even with an increase District 833 high schools would still fall below most of the schools in the Suburban East Conference and among comparable schools.
Details and a fee schedule are available on the district’s website.
