East Ridge High School Students to Perform 'AIDA'

Shows start Nov. 8 at The Loft Stage at the high school in Woodbury.

East Ridge High School will put on six performances of Elton John and Tim Rice's rock musical AIDA from Nov. 8-17.

AIDA revolves around a love triangle between a Nubian princess, an Egyptian captain and pharaoh’s daughter.

  • Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m.

In a release, East Ridge described AIDA:

Captured by Radames and brought to Egypt as a slave, Aida is torn between her devotion to her people and her attraction to her captor. Unhappy with the choices already determined for him, Radames longs for freedom and nothing more than to be with his newfound love.

AIDA won four 2000 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score.

There will be an opening night gala—sponsored by Green Mill—at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The event features appetizers, beverages, musicians, a silent auction and more. Tickets for the event cost $10.
