East Ridge Names New Boys Soccer Coach

Anthony Bidwell comes to the Woodbury school from Eden Prairie.

has a new head boys soccer coach.

The Woodbury school this morning (Jan. 24) announced the hire of Anthony Bidwell, who most recently was the head girls soccer coach at Eden Prairie High School, where he compiled a 46-5-6 record from 2009-11.

Anthony has one of the highest all-time win percentages in high school girls soccer, according to a release from East Ridge.

A social studies teacher at East Ridge, Anthony is “thrilled to take on this position that couples his passion for both teaching and coaching,” the release says. “He looks forward to building a program that will attain excellence.”

Bidwell’s Eden Prairie team won two Lake Conference championships, one Section 2AA Championship, one Section 2AA Runner-up title, and the 2010 MSHSL Class AA State Championship. His 2010-11 Eden Prairie team was ranked No. 1 in the nation by NSCAA. Prior to coaching at Eden Prairie, Anthony was the head boys soccer coach for six years at DeLaSalle, where he holds the record for the most victories by any head soccer coach in school history.

During the nine years of being a head soccer coach in Minnesota, Anthony has twice won the Section Coach of the Year Award (2005 and 2010) as well as the USSF McNulty Award (2007). He holds a “B” USSF License (2008), ACE Personal Training License, Chek Holistic Lifestyle and Fitness License, has been a head coach at Minnesota Thunder Academy for eight years, and has also served as director of Footholde soccer camps for five years, according to the release.

A meet-and-greet event with Bidwell will be held this spring.
