New Rating System for East Ridge, Woodbury Students

Students with 3.5 GPA or better will graduate cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude.

The three high schools in South Washington County School District—Woodbury High School, East Ridge and Park—will no longer report class rank starting next year.

Instead, according to a post on the school district website, students with GPA above 3.5 will be classified in the following way:

  • 3.5-3.666: cum laude
  • 3.667-3.999: magna cum laude
  • 4.0+: summa cum laude
From the district:

Within district high schools, the average grade in the building is as high as a B+, resulting in highly successful students ranking in the lower half of their graduating class. Couple this with the competition that develops between and among students; administration and staff at district high schools believe it is time for a change in the manner in which student performance is reported out to colleges and universities.
