Suicide Prevention Collaborative Event

The Suicide Prevention Collaborative of the East Metro Area (SPC) and PrairieCare will co-sponsor a professional training 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Prom Center in Oakdale.

The presenter is Maureen Underwood, LCSW CGP, from the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide. This training is designed for counselors, educators and mental health professionals.

This workshop will discuss the effective suicide prevention programming required to develop the infrastructure of a competent community and review how all community components are involved with helping at-risk youth. It will also include LIFELINES, a competent school plan for suicide awareness. Registration is preferred.

The SPC is a community-based group dedicated to preventing teen suicide in the eastern metropolitan area of the Twin Cities through education, awareness, collaboration, and advocacy. SPC members include representatives from PrairieCare, Washington County Teen Health Fund, Youth Service Bureau, Penticoff Community Counseling, Sentier Psychotherapy, Fuerst Psychological Services, Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury, Central and Priority Pediatrics, Parents, and the Faith Based Health and Wellness Network.
