Math and Science Academy Director to Step Down

Paul Simone, in a note on the school's website, says he is "no longer personally in the best position to continue serving the Math and Science Academy."

Paul Simone, director of the in Woodbury, will not seek to extend his contract beyond this school year, according to a note on the school’s website.

“Assisting in the start-up process, teaching, and subsequently being the director of the Math and Science Academy was the absolute fulfillment of a long time professional goal for me,” he wrote. “However, part of this goal requires that I recognize when I am no longer personally in the best position to continue serving the Math and Science Academy.”

Simone said he plans to “pursue a change and renew my place in the professional world,” and added that he enjoyed being part of the Math and Science Academy, noting its status as a nationally recognized NCLB Blue Ribbon School.

“I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all who participated with me and who helped me along this wonderful career path and journey,” Simone said on the site. “The Math and Science Academy truly was my professional home for these past 13 years, but now it is time for me to renew and rejuvenate, and seek out a new personal mission.”
