PHOTOS: Valley Crossing Celebrates Veterans Day

Major William VandenBergh spoke via Skype to Valley Crossing students Thursday in honor of Veterans Day.

Valley Crossing Community School (VCCS) hosted an early Veteran’s Day celebration this morning as teachers and students have a scheduled day-off on Friday.

The ceremony included a color guard of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, singing of patriotic songs, a skype visit from Afghanistan by Major William VandenBergh, who is also the parent of a VCCS student. 

Bob Livingston, US military veteran and member of the Washington County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, emceed the event.

Students were invited to bring a family member or friend who is a veteran to attend the ceremony and be recognized for their service.

Staff and students of VCCS wrote names of family and friends who served in the US military on red, white and blue paper stars. The stars formed a large flag in the entry of the school.
