Spanish Immersion Update from South Washington County Schools

District 833 leaders on Monday sent out an update on the program, which is coming to Woodbury High School this fall.

Via Woodbury High School's listserv system, South Washington County Schools sent out the following regarding the district’s Spanish immersion program.

Dear Parents,

We are excited to be bringing the Spanish Immersion pathway to Woodbury High School in the fall of 2013.

This pathway will provide your students with the opportunity to continue in an immersion environment through Social Studies and a Literature and Culture course.  The Spanish Immersion program at Woodbury High School allows us to ensure that we can provide a highly rigorous course structure for your students.

This is the only Spanish Immersion Pathway for the district. We are not providing this opportunity at any other District 833 high school.

If, as a family you choose to exit the program and attend your boundary high school, remember that there will not be additional opportunities provided outside of the current Program of Study at the other three high schools.

The current Program of Study offers additional Spanish opportunities through “College in the Schools” or “IB” offerings, depending on the school. Students may also experience a new language opportunity as well.

Sincerely,

Keith Jacobus, Superintendent

Keith Ryskoski, Assistant Superintendent Secondary Education

Dave Bernhardson, Assistant Superintendent Elementary Education

Randi Anderson, Director of Teaching and Learning Services

Linda Plante, Woodbury High School Principal

Kerry Timmerman, Park High School Principal

Aaron Harper, East Ridge High School Principal

Mike Mahaffey, Alternative Learning Center Principal

Elise Block, Cottage Grove Middle School Principal

Richard Romano, Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion Principal
