The announced Tuesday that the school has a new executive director, Robert Kreischer.
The Math and Science Academy Board of Directors and a seven-member search committee—comprised of representatives from MSA staff and parent groups—engaged in a three-month search for a new executive director.
In March, former director Paul Simone told the school after the school year.
“Assisting in the start-up process, teaching, and subsequently being the director of the Math and Science Academy was the absolute fulfillment of a long time professional goal for me,” Simone wrote on the Woodbury school’s website. “However, part of this goal requires that I recognize when I am no longer personally in the best position to continue serving the Math and Science Academy.”
Kreischer was previously the director of the Upper School at St. Croix Preparatory Academy, according to a school official there. According to a page on the St. Croix Prep website, he has a B.A. in psychology from Macalester College, a master’s in educational administration from Dominican College and a bachelor of divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary.
Kreischer is set to begin his new job on Aug. 1, according to a release from MSA. However, he will be available to meet with parents, students and staff during his summer office hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Call 651-357-6920 to make an appointment.
People will also be able to meet Kreischer during an Aug. 28 open house.
