East Ridge Ends District Tourney Run
East Ridge fell to Lakeville North on Saturday with a state trip on the line
The East Ridge American Legion baseball team fell one game short of a berth in the Minnesota state tournament on Saturday in Burnsville.
East Ridge lost 9-4 to Lakeville North on Saturday, ending its run through the district playoffs. North’s victory sent them, along with Burnsville and district champion Eastview, to next week’s state tournament. Games begin Friday in Eden Prairie.
East Ridge entered the tournament as the 17th seed out of 20 teams and beat South St. Paul 14-5 in a play-in game to advance to the final 16 teams.

East Ridge then lost to top-seeded Burnsville 10-2 before beating Faribault 10-6, Forest Lake 8-5 and third-seeded Stillwater 15-11.
But Lakeville North, who was the 13th seed and also needed to win a play-in game to get into the round of 16, went 5-1 in the tournament and secured the trip to state.
