Football Friday: East Ridge at Woodbury

This is it. The football team will take on their upstart rivals from across town when pays a visit tonight.

Woodbury (2-1, 2-1 Suburban East Conference) made it , beating Park 49-13; East Ridge (1-2, 1-2 SEC) got .

Val Huerta (East Ridge, running back)

Huerta ran for 118 yards on 22 carries in a losing effort last week and now has 341 yards through three games for the Raptors.

Junius Wilson (Woodbury, running back)

Wilson injured his knee in last week's game, and the senior three-year starter will be a spectator this Friday night.

Joe Wood (Woodbury, running back)

Wood (28 carries, 175 yards, three touchdowns on the season) will have to shoulder an increased workload with Wilson sidelined.

Woodbury fans will find out this week if their Royals are for real. Woodbury has won two of three, but those wins came over teams that are a combined 0-6 on the season. The schedule definitely gets tougher from here on out, as their next four opponents all have winning records three weeks into the season.

They can turn the game into a defensive struggle. East Ridge has scored just 34 points in three games, and 28 of those game in a home win over Forest Lake. The Raptors probably won't win a shootout.
