The funds raised at the June 30 event will be split between the golf teams and the Ann Haering Foundation (AHF).

“Some exciting things are happening at this year’s event, like Lee Valsvik from Cities 97 emceeing our event, a ‘wall of wine’ will be auctioned off, and the band Low Voltage, an 80s rock band, will entertain at the dinner,” Yoshida said.

The event is open to kids and adults.

“We’re still looking for a few more golfers and silent auction items," Yoshida said. "The cost is $125 which includes golf, cart, driving range, dinner and a chance to win a Hawaiian vacation."

Fifty percent of this year’s proceeds will benefit the AHF, which will host it’s official foundation kickoff this September.

“Ann’s wishes were to help patients and their families who are facing long-term illness that requires lengthy stays in the hospital with supportive ways to help make them feel more at home,” said Jane Haering, Ann’s mother.

Funds given to the AHF provide items such as gift cards to restaurants that are near a hospital, personal care and other relevant items that families are in need of when spending long periods of time at the hospital.

“We were really fortunate to have lived so close by the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital when Ann was sick, not to mention the awesome local support from our local community. Most families who are in this situation aren’t as lucky, as most do not live in the local area,” said Haering. “As far as this year’s golf event, we want people to know that you don’t have to be a golfer to participate in this fun charity event, you can just show up for the dinner and still be a part of this very special night."

For those who would like to sponsor a hole, golf, or just have dinner and come to the silent auction, the deadline for participating in this year’s event is this Thursday, June 23. Solo golfers can contact Yoshida to find a group to golf with, too.
