New Life Academy Set To Play For Class A Title

The Eagles defeated KMS 3-2 on Thursday, will play for their fourth straight state championship at 2 p.m. Friday

The softball team will once again play for the Class A state championship, as the Eagles slipped past Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg 3-2 in the semifinals Thursday at Caswell Park in Mankato.

The Eagles (23-4) will play for their fourth consecutive state championship on Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Cherry/Cotton and Blooming Prairie in the second semifinal.

Against the Fighting Saints, NLA took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth when pinch-runner Chloe Westlund scored on an error by the second baseman.

Rebekah Schmidt pitched a complete game for the victory—her second win of the day. She struck out 13 batters and allowed one hit and two runs.
