NHL Alumni, Wild Staff To Appear At Woodbury Event

Dec. 30 event at Bielenberg Sports Center will bring in Woodbury's own Wes Walz and Brad Bombardir, as well as Wild coach Mike Yeo.

boys and girls hockey booster clubs are gearing up for a big Dec. 30 event that will bring former NHL stars to Woodbury.

The benefit event will feature members of the Minnesota NHL Alumni Association who will play against a team of local players, with intermission entertainment provided by the Woodbury Figure Skating Club and area hockey club Mite games.

The Dec. 30 event will be held at the in Woodbury.

Confirmed NHL alumni to play include: Woodbury’s own Wes Walz and Brad Bombardir, Raptors girls hockey coaches Craig Norwich and Tom Younghans, and other notable NHL alums including Phil Housley, Brad Maxwell, Dave Richter, Gordie Roberts, Reed Larson, Erick Rasmussen, Jeff Teal, Sean Toomey and Joe Dziedzic.

Coaching for the team will be Steve Payne, with goalie Scott Anderson and officials Ron Foyt and Roger Gilbertson. Also appearing at the event will be Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo and Wild television Analyst Mike Greenlay.

Players and guests will be available for autographs throughout the event, which also includes a silent auction, special concessions, and a ticket-stub raffle for the game jerseys and other prizes.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, and the Minnesota NHL Alumni game will begin at 5 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door, which includes admission to the event and game, and also entry into the game-night raffle.

The Minnesota NHL Alumni Association is made up of former NHL players who have played for the NHL in Minnesota and/or former NHL players who are from the "State of Hockey" that have returned to reside in Minnesota.

In addition to taking care of their fellow alumni, they work with groups to support a variety of community events and charitable causes.
