Soccer Shots Partners With Woodbury Preschools

A new youth soccer franchise has partnered with four Woodbury preschools in attempt to bring an extracurricular activity to the schools and introduce the game to children.

Soccer Shots is working with Primrose School of Woodbury, Saint Ambrose, Woodbury Preschool Programs on Steepleview and Woodbury Lutheran for summer programs, said Dan Larson, owner of the local franchise.

Soccer shots works with kids 2-8 years old during once-a-week 30-minute sessions, he said. In addition to teaching the basics of the sport, the company tries to “use soccer as a vehicle to teach healthy habits to kids,” Larson said.

“And it’s a way for the school to offer an extracurricular that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to,” he said.

Summer camps at Woodbury parks are also in the works, said Larson, who played soccer in high school and at Hamline University in St. Paul, and also coached youngsters for a few years.

Soccer Shots, he said, is “a way to positively impact the community with something that I know.”
