Sports Roundup: East Ridge Boys Basketball Wins Trinity Opener

Raptors top Humboldt 75-65 in first game of holiday tournament to highlight Tuesday's local sports schedule.

The boys basketball team garnered the lone victory of the five local varsity teams in holiday tournament action on Tuesday as the Raptors defeated St. Paul Humboldt in the opening matchup of the Trinity Invitational.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: Raptors 75, St. Paul Humboldt 65

A furious second-half rally delivered the East Ridge boys basketball from a 36-23 halftime deficit as the Raptors soared past Humboldt 75-65 at Trinity School in Eagan.

Down by 13 points at the break, East Ridge outscored the Hawks 52-29 over the final 18 minutes to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The victory advanced the Raptors to a second-round tourney game against host Trinity at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Woodbury Boys Hockey: Eagan 5, Royals 1

The news was not as good for the boys hockey team as the Royals fell 5-1 to Eagan in the second round of the South St. Paul Premier Tournament.

A lone second-period goal by Woodbury forward Chase Myers-Beck was not enough against the Wildcats, who recorded four of their five goals in the second period despite a 41-save night from Royals goaltender Zach Moore.

With the loss, Woodbury heads into the third-place game on Wednesday with a 6-5 record.

Woodbury Girls Hockey: Andover 3, Royals 0

The Woodbury girls hockey team fell without scoring a single goal in a 3-0 loss to tournament host Andover in the Huskies Invitational.

Andover recorded one goal in each period to record the victory and drop the Royals to 3-8-1 on the season.

Woodbury continues play in the Andover tourney through Thursday.

New Life Academy Girls Basketball: Rochester Century 63, Eagles 56

The New Life Academy girls basketball team fell to 3-3 on the season following a 63-56 loss to Rochester Century in the Rochester Rotary Tournament. Individual statistics were not available.
