Sports Roundup: Raptors Girls Hockey Claims First SEC Win

East Ridge skaters win 2-1 at Forest Lake while Woodbury boys hockey tops Cretin; Raptor boys, Royals girls suffer overtime puck losses.

The East Ridge girls hockey team won its first-ever Suburban East Conference contest to highlight a Saturday schedule that also saw the Woodbury boys hockey squad defeat Cretin-Derham Hall for the second time this season, while the Raptor boys and Royals girls suffered overtime hockey losses.

East Ridge Girls Hockey: Raptors 2, Forest Lake 1

After 15 unsuccessful tries, the girls hockey team earned its initial conference victory as second period goals from Erica Michaud and Brooke Marlow and 35 saves from Katie Ahmann gave the Raptors a 2-1 win at Forest Lake.

With the win East Ridge improved to 6-17 overall and 1-15 in the SEC.

The Raptors host Park at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday before playing a "road" game against Woodbury in the arena the two teams share at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Woodbury Boys Hockey: Royals 3, Cretin-Derham Hall 2

The boys hockey team completed a regular-season sweep over Cretin-Derham Hall with a 3-2 defeat of the Raiders at Bielenberg.

Matt Pederson, Chase Myers-Beck and Ryan Winter all scored for the Royals as Josh Erickson made 43 saves in the Royals goal to secure the narrow victory.

Woodbury, now 11-9 overall and 6-7 in the SEC, host Forest Lake at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Woodbury Girls Hockey: Cretin-Derham Hall 4, Royals 3

The Woodbury girls hockey team gave visiting Cretin-Derham Hall all it could handle before succumbing, 4-3, to drop to 5-16-2 overall and 2-12-2 in SEC play.

Emilie Tappe made 25 saves for the Royals, while Jessica Bonfe, Sydney Falconer and Sam Greeley scored for the home side in the loss.

Woodbury travels to Hastings at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday before hosting East Ridge in the regular-season finale at 3 p.m. Saturday.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: Mahtomedi 72, Raptors 56

Playing its second game in less than 24 hours, the East Ridge boys basketball team came up short in a 72-56 non-conference loss at Mahtomedi.

The defeat dropped the Raptors to 10-7 overall on the season, with Taylor Hawkins leading the visitors in scoring with 13 points while Adam Schwartz and John Hietpas recorded 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Woodbury Gymnastics: Royals Sixth At Blizzard Invite

The Woodbury gymnastics team finished sixth at the Blizzard Invitational in Northfield, logging 129.2 points. Individual results were not available.

East Ridge Boys Hockey: White Bear Lake 3, Raptors 2 (OT)

A 3-2 overtime loss against conference-leading White Bear Lake dropped the East Ridge boys hockey team to 7-12 overall and 3-10 in the Suburban East.

Individual results were not immediately available.

The Raptors return to the ice at Roseville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
