Sports Roundup: Raptors Girls Runners Win Second-Straight Conference Crown

Ness leads East Ridge past Roseville once again at Suburban East Conference title meet.

History repeated itself at Falcon Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday as the girls cross-country team won its second-consecutive Suburban East Conference title at the circuit's championship meet in Stacy.

East Ridge Cross-Country

Led once again by Bailey Ness, the East Ridge girls cross-country team again topped Roseville for its second-straight Suburban East title in its third year of existence.

Ness completed the 4-kilometer course in a time of 14 minutes, 29 seconds, with teammate Brenley Goertzen finishing ninth in 14:50 and Taylor Jackson in 13th with a 14:55. Megan Schiferl (15:07) took 20th and Abbey Beissler (15:09) was 21st to account for the Raptors' score—eight points better than the Raiders.

The East Ridge boys took eighth, led by Ryan Schiferl's 24th-place run of 16:30 on the 5K course.

Woodbury Cross-Country

The boys and girls cross-country teams took fifth and sixth, respectively, at the Suburban East championships.

Taylor Voit paced the Royals boys with a 15th-place run of 16:13, while Lauren Smith's 12th-place time of 14:54 led the girls.

East Ridge Volleyball

The East Ridge volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 12-17 record after a 3-0 loss at Edina on Thursday.

Individual results were not made available. Next up for the Raptors is the Section 4AAA Tournament that is scheduled to commence on Oct. 26.
