Sports Roundup: Raptors Volleyball Falls, Eagles Spikers Win

East Ridge drops five-game marathon to Eastview, New Life tops Randolph.

The East Ridge volleyball team lost, while their neighbors at New Life won mid-week matches to highlight a light sports schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday.

East Ridge Volleyball

The volleyball team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 3-2 loss to visiting Eastview in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

After winning the first game 25-17, the Raptors dropped the next two 19-25, 23-25, before winning game four 25-19. However, the Lightning outlasted their hosts 15-10 in the tiebreaker to lay the loss on East Ridge. Individual statistics were not made available.

The only team that East Ridge has defeated on the volleyball court this season, , improved to 2-2 on the year with a four-game match win against Randolph (25-10, 19-25, 25-23, 25-14) on Tuesday.

Through four matches, Reegan Baar leads the Eagles with 27 kills and 12 service aces; Lauren Ruhr's 45 assists also top the club, as do Macayla Stone's 31 digs.

New Life Boys Soccer

Heritage Christian Academy boys soccer team in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association opener on Tuesday, dropping the Eagles to 1-3-1 on the season.

The Eagles have four goals on the season, scored by four different players: Daniel Sleper, Kolin Kiekhoefer, Daniel Otto and Dylan Larson.

Woodbury Girls Tennis

The girls tennis team lost to South St. Paul, 4-3, on Wednesday. Individual statistics were not made available.

New Life Girls Tennis

The New Life girls tennis team lost, 7-0, to Pine City on Tuesday. It was the second-straight shutout the Eagles have suffered this season.

East Ridge Girls Tennis

The East Ridge girls tennis team lost, 7-0, to Mounds View on Tuesday. The Raptors had topped intra-district rival Park, 5-2, last week.
