Woodbury Girls Basketball: White Bear Lake 45, Royals 44

A ferocious second-half rally was not quite enough to earn the Woodbury girls basketball team a victory in its Suburban East battle of titans with White Bear Lake as the Bears escaped The Lion's Den with a 45-44 victory.

The Bears took a 25-16 halftime lead before the Royals roared back over the final 18 minutes to turn the game into a thriller before losing by the narrowest of margins to fall one game off the pace in the conference standings.

Woodbury guard Michelle Young led all scorers with 26 points, while backcourt mate Kristina White logged 11 points in the loss, which dropped the Royals to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the SEC.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: Cretin-Derham Hall 72, Raptors 56

Guards Justin Pahl and John Hietpas led East Ridge with 21 and 18 points, respectively, as the Raptors fell to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the defeat.

Woodbury Boys Basketball: White Bear Lake 74, Woodbury 58

What was a promising game at the midway point turned ugly for the Woodbury boys basketball team as the Royals lost 74-58 at White Bear Lake in an SEC clash.

Woodbury trailed just 29-27 at halftime, yet the Bears took off to outscore the Royals by 14 points over the final 18 minutes to drop the visitors to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Forward Connor McKeen led Woodbury with 19 points, while fellow forwards Michael Policano and Andrew Ayeni chipped in 17 and 10 points, respectively.

East Ridge Girls Basketball: Cretin-Derham Hall 40, Raptors 36

A 14-10 halftime lead by visiting Cretin-Derham Hall proved to be the final margin of victory as the East Ridge girls basketball team lost, 40-36, in a Suburban East contest in The Raptors' Perch.

East Ridge fell to 5-8 overall and 1-6 in the SEC despite a team-high 12 points from forward Brianna Walker.

New Life Academy Boys Basketball: West Lutheran 61, Eagles 56

A 33-24 halftime deficit was more than the boys basketball team could climb out of as the Eagles lost, 61-56, at West Lutheran in a Minnesota Christian Athletic Association matchup.

Forwards Cody Linton and Sam Berg scored 15 and 10 points, respectively to lead New Life as the Eagles fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the MCAA.
