Sports Roundup: Royals Girls Soccer Clinches Share Of Conference Title

Woodbury tops White Bear Lake on Thursday to headline recent prep sports news.

The girls soccer team claimed at least a share of the Suburban East Conference title with a home triumph to highlight the mid-week athletic schedule.

A 3-0 defeat of visiting White Bear Lake on Thursday kept the Woodbury girls soccer team and at 7-0 in the circuit, gave the Royals a two-game lead in the conference race with two games remaining in the regular season.

Maddie Trebesch, Maddie Nelson and Kristina White scored for the hosts in the victory that gave the Royals an 11-3 overall record with a home game against Hastings and a road matchup versus Mounds View next Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, left on the pre-playoff schedule.

The Woodbury boys soccer team ended a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 defeat of White Bear Lake at home on Thursday.

Mitch Leonard scored twice in the victory, with Davis Johnson and Luke Hauswirth adding one goal apiece.

The win improved the Royals to 6-7 overall and 5-2 in the SEC, with games against Hastings and Mounds View next week concluding the regular season.

East Ridge Cross-Country

The cross-country teams competed in the Blaze Invitational in Burnsville on Thursday, with the girls and boys both taking seventh in their respective four- and five-kilometer races.

Ryan Schiferl led the Raptors boys with a 22nd-place time of 17:51.2, while Megan Schiferl topped the girls with a ninth-place run of 15:49.3.

East Ridge Volleyball

A four-game loss to visiting Eagan, the sixth-ranked team in Class AAA, dropped the East Ridge volleyball team to 6-9 overall.

Individual statistics were not available. The Raptors, who fell 19-25, 18-25, 25-20, 17-25, hold a 3-2 conference record and are slated to play in the Cretin-Derham Hall Tournament on Saturday.

New Life Volleyball

The volleyball team improved to 13-3 this season with a three-game sweep (25-20, 25-14, 26-24) of Christian Life Academy on Thursday. Individual statistics were not available.

Woodbury Girls Tennis

A 6-1 loss to Roseville concluded the Woodbury girls tennis team's regular season with a 3-6 record. The doubles team of Yssa Yasis and Katie Kreibich earned the Royals' lone victory in the match.

East Ridge Girls Tennis

Two-straight 5-2 losses to Roseville and Hastings on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, leveled the East Ridge girls tennis team at 7-7 to close out the regular season. Individual statistics were not available.

New Life Girls Tennis

The New Life girls tennis team defeated St. Paul Johnson in its regular-season finale by a score of 6-1 for its fifth victory of the year. Individual statistics were not available.

New Life Girls Soccer

A 1-0 loss to Southwest Christian on Thursday dropped the New Life girls soccer team to 8-3-1 overall and 5-2 in Minnesota Christian Athletic Association play. Individual statistics were not available.

Woodbury Girls Swimming And Diving

The Woodbury girls swimming and diving team lost 96-85 to Stillwater on Thursday. Individual statistics were not available.
