Sports Roundup: Woodbury, East Ridge Notch Boys Basketball Wins

East Ridge, Woodbury girls basketball teams conclude regular seasons as Raptors, Royals and Eagles boys all win conference matchups.

The regular season came to an end for the Woodbury and East Ridge girls basketball teams as both closed out their pre-playoff slate with Suburban East Conference matchups on a Friday night when New Life joined the Raptors and Royals with boys basketball wins.

Woodbury Boys Basketball: Royals 69, Mounds View 57

The  boys basketball team improved to 10-14 overall and 7-9 in the Suburban East with a 69-57 win at home versus Mounds View.

Renard Suggs led all scorers with 20 points, while Royals teammates Michael Policano and Connor McKeen recorded 11 and 10 point points, respectively, in the victory.

Woodbury travels to Roseville for a 7:15 p.m. matchup on Tuesday before hosting East Ridge in the regular-season finale at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: Raptors 69, Forest Lake 66

A 69-66 defeat of visiting Forest Lake improved the boys basketball team to 13-11 overall and 7-9 in the conference.

Adam Schwartz poured in 24 for the Raptors, while Justin Pahl, 17, and Dayo Idowu, 16, rounded out the top scorers for East Ridge.

East Ridge hosts White Bear Lake on Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. before heading across town to Woodbury for the last game of the regular season at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

New Life Boys Basketball: Eagles 72, Southwest Christian 50

The boys basketball team improved to 7-14 on the year and 5-7 in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association by means of a 72-50 defeat of Southwest Christian on the Curt Wetsel Court.

Dan Otto paced the Eagles with 14 points, while Joe Mann recorded 11 points.

New Life travels to Bethlehem Academy on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

East Ridge Girls Basketball: 69, Forest Lake 65

The East Ridge girls basketball team heads into the sectional playoffs on a high note after winning 69-65 at Forest Lake in the regular-season finale.

Four Raptors put up double-digit scoring efforts in the contest, led by Katie Hagberg's game-high of 19 points, followed by Brianna Walker with 18, Hannah Pignato's 15 and Jamie Swanson's 13.

Concluding its pre-playoff schedule with a 7-19 overall record, 3-15 in the Suburban East, as they move on to the Section 4AAAA tournament playoffs with a Monday night matchup at Henry Sibley.

Results were not available for Woodbury's regular-season game at Mounds View. The Royals open the 4AAAA playoffs at home against Cretin-Derham Hall at 7 p.m. on Wednesda.
