Sports Roundup: Woodbury Girls, New Life Boys Win in Hoops

New Life boys win big in conference tournament as Woodbury splits with Forest Lake and East Ridge swept by Stillwater.

Basketball teams from , and inched one game closer to the end of the regular season with conference matchups on Tuesday night.

Woodbury Girls Basketball: Royals 57, Forest Lake 40

The Woodbury girls basketball team built a 30-14 halftime lead en route to a 57-40 home win over Forest Lake to improve to 18-6 overall and 14-3 in Suburban East Conference play.

Behind a game-high 29 points from Michelle Young and 13 points from Royals teammate Kristina White, the Royals took over sole control of second place in the Suburban East standings with one game left to play in the conference slate.

Woodbury travels to Mounds View for the regular-season finale at 7:15 p.m. Friday night.

Woodbury Boys Basketball: Forest Lake 85, Royals 74

An 85-74 loss at Forest Lake dropped the Woodbury boys basketball team to 9-14 overall and 6-9 in the Suburban East with two games remaining before the playoffs.

The Royals were outscored in each half despite a game-high 25 points from Connor McKeen, with Rickey and Renard Suggs scoring 20 and 10 points, respectively.

Woodbury hosts Mounds View at 7:15 p.m. Friday before traveling to Roseville for a 7:15 p.m. start to end the regular season.

New Life Boys Basketball: Eagles 69, West Lutheran 37

The New Life Academy boys basketball team claimed a 69-37 victory over West Lutheran in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association Tournament in one of its more dominating performances of the winter.

Sam Berg led all scorers with 23 points, with fellow Eagle Alex Heiser tallying 20 points as New Life improved to 6-14 on the season.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: Stillwater 62, Raptors 58

A 31-26 halftime lead was not enough to carry the East Ridge boys basketball team to victory at Stillwater as the Raptors fell 62-58 on the Ponies' court.

Adam Schwartz put up a game-high 16 points in the loss, with East Ridge teammate Justin Pahl scoring 14 points.

The Raptors fell to 12-11 overall and 6-9 in the Suburban East.

East Ridge hosts Forest Lake on Friday and and White Bear Lake next Tuesday night to conclude the regular season; tip-off for both games is 7:15 p.m.

East Ridge Girls Basketball: Stillwater 65, Raptors 45

The East Ridge girls basketball team fell to 6-19 overall and 2-15 in the Suburban East with a 65-45 home loss to Stillwater.

Katie Hagberg was the lone Raptor to score in double digits with 11 points in the loss as East Ridge prepares to end the conference schedule at Forest Lake in a 7:15 p.m. matchup on Friday night.
