Sports Roundup: Woodbury Spikers On A Roll

Royals win eighth match in a row, remain undefeated in Suburban East Conference play.

The Woodbury volleyball team continued its September run with a third-straight Suburban East Conference win as the Royals remained tied for the circuit lead and highlighted the mid-week sports schedule.

Woodbury Volleyball

A four-game win against visiting Roseville (25-14, 25-12, 18-25, 26-24) improved the volleyball team to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the SEC.

Sara Biermaier led Woodbury with 12 kills, with Kelsey Schultze's 24 assists and Olivia Wangensteen's 12 digs also helping the hosts to their eighth-straight victory.

East Ridge Volleyball

The volleyball team swept White Bear Lake in three games (25-19, 25-14, 25-17) on Tuesday. Individual statistics were not made available. 

New Life Volleyball

A three-game sweep of Maranatha (25-11, 25-10, 25-19) improved the volleyball team to 8-3 on the year. 

Leading the Eagles statistically were: Abby Gorter with 11 kills, Kara Stenerson with 16 assists and Macayla Stone with eight digs.

Woodbury Boys Soccer

A 4-2 defeat of Forest Lake on Tuesday improved the Woodbury boys soccer team to 5-4 this season. Individual statistics were not made available. 

East Ridge Boys Soccer

The East Ridge boys soccer team played to a scoreless tie against Roseville on Tuesday to bring its record to 3-6-1 this autumn.

Won Suk Chung leads the Raptors with nine goals, with goalkeeper Joe Lewis amassing 40 saves on 54 shots thus far.

New Life Boys Soccer

On goals by Raleigh Becker and Noah Kriener, the New Life boys soccer team improved to 4-6-1 with a 2-1 defeat of Legacy Christian on Tuesday. 

Woodbury Girls Soccer

The Woodbury girls soccer team netted its fourth-straight shutout with a 4-0 blanking of Forest Lake on Tuesday, improving the Royals to 8-2 on the season. 

Madison Nelson leads Woodbury with five goals, with goalkeeper Casey White logging 20 saves on 25 shots this season.

East Ridge Girls Soccer

The East Ridge girls soccer team topped Roseville 2-1 on Tuesday for its second-straight win; the Raptors improved to 7-2 this year with the victory. Individual statistics were not made available. 

Scores and statistics were not made available for Woodbury, East Ridge and New Life girls tennis.
