Weather Continues to Plague Woodbury Teams

Royals, Raptors and Eagles all get Monday games in before cold rain again wipes out most of Tuesday schedule.

It's been a difficult spring weather-wise for local sports teams as every school has dealt with postponements and cancellations in April—except lacrosse, with Woodbury teams playing right on through the rain, snow and cold.

Woodbury Boys Lacrosse: Royals Fall to 1-2

The boys lacrosse team dropped to 1-2 on the season following a pair of non-conference losses to bookend the weekend.

After an 8-7 setback versus Prior Lake on Friday, the Royals lost 10-6 at Wayzata on Monday, with both games played on a water-logged field.

The Royals might fit in a dry game on Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. home contest scheduled against Suburban East Conference foe Mounds View.

Co-captain Ben Alberts leads Woodbury with seven goals, while Blake Bergherr has posted five goals and five assists this spring.

Woodbury/East Ridge Girls Lacrosse: Royal Raptors 19, Columbia Heights 2

The Woodbury/East Ridge girls lacrosse team defeated Columbia Heights 19-2 on Monday to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Sophia Bainbridge leads the Royal Raptors with 14 goals on the season, with Jessica Hammer scoring seven goals thus far.

Woodbury/East Ridge hosts Suburban East rival Mounds View on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Woodbury Softball: Roseville 3, Royals 2

The Woodbury softball team dropped to 1-4 on the season after a 3-2 loss to Roseville on Monday. 

Alex Benedict leads the Royals with a .385 batting average and four RBIs, while Abbie Morris has the team's lone home run of the season while batting .333 this spring.

The Royals travel to St. Paul to play Cretin-Derham Hall on Wednesday.

East Ridge Softball: Cretin-Derham Hall 2, Raptors 0

The East Ridge softball team was shutout, 2-0, at home by Cretin-Derham Hall on Monday to drop to 3-2 on the year.

Taylor LeMay leads the Raptors with a .357 batting average and five RBIs, while Alyssa Ronquillo is hitting .353 in 17 at-bats.

East Ridge travels to Hastings on Wednesday afternoon.

New Life Softball: Eagles One-Hit Heritage Christian

The softball team upped its record to 5-1 this spring after one-hitting Heritage Christian in a 17-0 win on Monday.

Pitcher Rebekah Schmidt struck out 13 batters and also went 2-for-4 at the plate; Valerie Hohol drove in four RBIs and Natalie Schad scored three runs.

The Eagles travel to Maranatha Christian Academy on Thrusday afternoon.

Woodbury Baseball: Hastings 1, Royals 0 (11 innings)

The Woodbury baseball team suffered a 1-0 loss in 11 innings to Hastings on Monday to fall to 3-4 this spring.

Pitcher Jordan Lund took the hard-luck loss after the Royals gave up the game's lone tally in the fourth extra frame of the contest.

Woodbury travels to Cretin-Derham Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

East Ridge Baseball: Raptors 8, Roseville 3

The baseball team continues to lead the Suburban East Conference after an 8-3 defeat of Roseville on Monday. 

The Raptors are 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference standings after the win, with pitcher Mark Landgrebe earning the victory with no runs allowed in six innings of work; Ryan Betz was the hitting hero with a 3-for-4 day, two RBI and one run scored.

East Ridge hosts Forest Lake on Wednesday and heads to Stillwater on Friday.

Woodbury and East Ridge Boys Golf: Raptors Seventh, Royals 15th At Dellwood Invitational

The East Ridge and Woodbury boys golf teams both competed at the Dellwood Invitational on Monday, with the Raptors scoring a 325 to take seventh and the Royals carding a 336 to take 15th. Individual results were not available.

Woodbury and East Ridge Girls Golf: Raptors, Royals Finish Fourth, Fifth in SEC Meet

The East Ridge and Woodbury girls golf teams finished in fourth and fifth, respectively with scores of 184 and 189 at the Par-37 White Bear Yacht club on Monday. Individual results were not available.

New Life Baseball: Eagles 12, Heritage 2

The New Life Academy baseball team improved to 3-2 on the year with a 12-2 win at Heritage Christian Academy on Monday. 

Individual statistics were not available. The Eagles are scheduled to host West Lutheran on Wednesday.
