Woodbury Council to Discuss Restaurant at Bielenberg Sports Center

The new restaurant is part of the expansion project currently underway.

The company chosen to provide food service at the expanded Bielenberg Sports Center envisions a full-scale restaurant on the second floor of the lobby.

The proposal is part of the Bielenberg Sports Center expansion project. Plans call for a new field house, two-story lobby, outdoor rink and improvements to the existing ice arenas, which will remain in place. Construction is underway.

The Woodbury City Council during a workshop meeting Wednesday, May 15, is expected to examine the concept for the new restaurant and concession area.

The proposal from Gartner Restaurant Holdings features a “full-service restaurant on the second floor, a concession stand on the first floor and food service carts and potential service in the surrounding fields,” according to the agenda item.

The plan is more ambitious than what the city originally had in mind for food service at the facility. The improvement costs for the restaurant are estimated at $800,000, and the city could opt to fund $500,000 of the work (permanent improvements) through an internal loan to the BSC, according to the council packet.
