Woodbury, East Ridge Boys Hoops Squads Lose

Woodbury and East Ridge opened their last week of the regular season with losses on Tuesday and will face one another in Suburban East Conference finale on Friday evening.

While the final week of the regular season opened with losses for both the and boys basketball teams, one of them is assured of a victory on Friday night as they face one another in the Suburban East Conference (SEC) finale—a matchup that will decide the seventh-place finisher in the circuit standings.

Woodbury Boys Basketball: Roseville 80, Raiders 66

Woodbury fell to 10-15 overall on the season after an 80-66 loss at conference-leading Roseville as the Raiders clinched at least a share of the SEC title with the victory.

The Royals posed little threat to the hosts on the night, trailing 37-26 at the break before losing by 14 points.

Connor McKeen led Woodbury with 19 points, Rickey Suggs scored 15 points, Ryan Fritze had 12 points and Renard Suggs had 11.

East Ridge Boys Basketball: White Bear Lake 83, Raptors 69

White Bear Lake kept its hopes alive for a runner-up finish in the Suburban East with an 83-69 win at East Ridge, dropping the Raptors to 13-12 overall on the year.

The hosts could not dig themselves out of a 43-29 halftime hole—the Raptors matched the Bears' 40-point effort over the final 18 minutes.

Justin Pahl led East Ridge with 22 points, while Adam Schwartz chipped in 20 points in the loss.

Woodbury vs East Ridge

Woodbury and East Ridge, both 7-10 in SEC play this winter, will play one another to determine who finishes seventh and eighth in the final conference table at 7:15 p.m. Friday in The Lion's Den at WHS.

The Raptors won the season's first meeting between the teams 73-64 on East Ridge's home court on Jan. 28. It was the first time in three matchups that the Royals had lost to their neighboring rivals.

Win or lose, both teams will begin play in the Section 3AAAA Tournament on Tuesday, March 8. Sites and seedings for the sectional bracket have yet to be determined.
