Woodbury Falls to Eden Prairie in State AAAA Quarterfinal, 70-59
Diallo Powell led the team with 19 points, and Mario Franco added 17, but the Royals' season ends with a 25-5 overall record after falling in the Class AAAA quarterfinals.
The fourth-seeded Woodbury Royals boys basketball team fell to the fifth-seeded Eden Prairie Eagles — 70-59 — in the quarterfinal round of the Class AAAA Minnesota state tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
Woodbury trailed by five 33-28 at the end of the first half, and the Eagles led by as many as 12 points early in the second half. Woodbury was able to cut the deficit to four with about eight minutes remaining, but the Eagles took control over the final minutes.
The Royals were led by guard Diallo Powell with 19 points and forward Mario Franco with 17 points. Both finished with nine rebounds. Andre Wallace led Eden Prairie with 20 points.

The Royals' season ends with a 25-5 overall record. Eden Prairie will next play top-ranked Apple Valley in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
