Woodbury Girls Just Miss In True Team Meet; East Ridge Third

It was expected to be a fight between sixth-ranked Rosemount and No. 10 and it was just that at the 2011 Section 3AA True Team Girls Swimming and Diving Invitational Saturday.

Host Rosemount won the meet with 1,034 points at the Rosemount Middle School pool, edging Woodbury, which finished second with 985.5.

was third in the team race, Cretin-Derham Hall fourth, Henry Sibley fifth (493.5) and Park of Cottage Grove sixth (321.5). (Team scores for East Ridge and Cretin-Derham Hall were not available).

Rosemount advances to the Class AA True Team State Meet Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the University of Minnesota, starting at 7 p.m.

In the True Team meets, every team member's performance counts toward the team's score.

First place is worth as many points as the number of possible entries in the event. For example: If there are eight teams entered in the meet there is a possible 32 entries per event. Thus making first place worth 32 points, second place worth 31 points etc. etc. Relay points are double the value of individual events.

Each school could enter up to four individuals and four relay teams per event.

Woodbury junior Mikayla Mayer won both the 50-yard freestyle in 24.90 and the 100-yard freestyle in 54.12.

The Royals team of Kristina Swanson, Megan Graupmann, Mara Miller and Mayer was first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.86.

Woodbury’s foursome of Sheri Li, Swanson, Marina Rizzo and Mayer finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:47.11.

Kasey Bosch won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.97.

Junior Lauren Puglist of Woodbury was second in the girls 1-meter diving with a score of 354.35.

Senior Rachel Treadway of East Ridge won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.48 and senior Melanie Rabino finished first in the 500-ayard freestyle in 5:24.59.

East Ridge junior Jenna Karrow finished first in the diving with a score of 417.15.
