Woodbury Miracle League Seeks More Players, Volunteers

"I think there are a lot more kids out there that could play and have this experience that's pretty incredible," said Reed Smidt, Woodbury recreation specialist.

The second season of the East Metro Miracle League—a baseball league designed youth 3-18 with cognitive and/or physical challenges—is underway.

And while “it was really great last year,” organizers are hoping to attract more players, said Reed Smidt, Woodbury recreation specialist.

“I think there are a lot more kids out there that could play and have this experience that’s pretty incredible,” he said.

Players can register at any point in the season. The cost is $50 per player; the season runs through Aug. 7.

Volunteers are also needed, not just for coaching but to essentially act as fans and cheer on the youngsters as they play at the specially designed field.
