Woodbury's Ben Alberts To Play For NDSU

The standout Royals boys lacrosse player will compete for the Bison in 2012

The North Dakota State University men’s lacrosse team announced Wednesday that Woodbury attacker Ben Alberts is part of its 2012 recruiting class.

Alberts, a varsity player with the Royals since eighth grade, scored 137 points over his past two seasons. He average 5.25 points per game during that span, and in 2011 he was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Lacrosse Award.

“We truly lucked out getting Ben," Bison coach Zach Bosh said in a press release. "He was the last addition to our recruiting class. His accomplishments in high school are impressive but I feel his game is only going to get better with more talent around him. He will definitely be a spark for us this year.”

Men’s lacrosse is a club sport at NDSU. The Bison compete in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse League during the regular season and take part in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division II tournament during the playoffs.

NDSU compiled an 11-4 overall record in 2011, including a 6-1 mark in the UMLL, and reached the national tournament. The Bison lost 10-8 to Savannah College of Art and Design in the first round.

“This class will help us to reach our goal of a National Championship,” Bosh said. “We were able to add even more size and speed to our roster.”
