Young's Special Night Leads Woodbury to Section Finals

Royals girls basketball team beats North St. Paul 55-45 as Young scores her 1,000th career point.

Saturday night was a special night for Michelle Young and the girls basketball team. 

With her 31 points, Young led Woodbury to next week's section finals, but along the way the senior scored her 1,000th career point. Woodbury protected a small lead most of the game, overcoming a strong full-court press by North St. Paul in the final minutes. Young, Ashley Sha and Kristina White all made clutch free throws to expand the final lead to 10 points. 

Young, who is headed to Bradley University next year, and head coach Dave Preller, who will , each have at least one more game left in their Woodbury careers. The Royals will meet White Bear Lake, who beat St. Paul Central, for the Section 4AA final, set for March 10 at .
