Kindness of Strangers: Beating the Heat in Woodbury

Raynon Howard was holding up well in the 95-degree heat Tuesday afternoon while holding a sign for Savers along Radio Drive.

Howard, who hails from California, said several people stopped and gave him water while he took his turn among Savers workers holding the sign promoting Senior Day at the store.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Washington County that expires at 9 p.m. Thursday, and warns of high heat and humidity this week.

The National Weather Service says heat combined with Gulf of Mexico air and its corresponding moisture will make dangerous conditions for those without air conditioning on Tuesday and Wednesday, when temperatures rise into the 90s, pushing heat indices over 100 degrees.
