Teams Needed for Miracle League Wiffle Ball Fundraiser in Woodbury

Popsicle's The BIG WIFF will raise money for the Miracle League, which has a new field in Woodbury. Organizers are hoping to set a Guinness World Record for "Largest Wiffle Ball Tournament."

Time to break out those plastic bats and balls.

Teams are needed for the inaugural Popsicle’s The BIG WIFF, a wiffle ball fundraiser for the Miracle League of Minnesota to be held at 10 Miracle League fields across the state—including Woodbury—on Saturday, Aug. 18.

The events will benefit the Miracle League of Minnesota, a nonprofit that provides special needs children the opportunity to play baseball. Miracle League fields are made of a special material designed to accommodate wheelchairs and walking devices while also helping prevent injuries.

Previous experience is not necessary to play; all ages are welcome. People can register their team online at thebigwiff.com.

Registration costs $100 per team. Once registered, team coaches will receive all tournament details, schedules, rules and tips on how teams can raise additional funds for the Miracle League of Minnesota through pledges.

Winners from each of the 10 locations will move on to a championship game on Aug. 19. Also, the team that raises the most pledges overall will win a trip to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. There are other prizes that will be handed out to top fundraisers, as well.
