Woodbury Days is Here! Here’s What You Should Know

A quick guide to this year’s events.

2012 is upon us.

It’s a weekend filled with food, rides, games, runs, bike rides, booths, parade, car show, live music, sports, animals… Whew.

So, here’s a rundown of some of the major events and a few details you probably want to know before you head out to today through Sunday. Firstly, it’s free to attend.

What and When

Woodbury Days starts with a tennis tournament at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 24. Events continue into the evening, with highlights including martial arts demonstrations, Taste of Woodbury, the petting zoo and bingo tent, along with other attractions.

Saturday, Aug. 25, is packed with events—from the 3M Rod & Custom Car Club Car Show to the bike rides (register at at 7:30 a.m.) to the nighttime fireworks.

Also note that the registration for the Woodbury Days Challenge is set for 3 p.m. And there’s still time to spot all the Woodbury Days cars to win a gift card to a local business. (See: )

The morning of Sunday, Aug. 25, features the Woodbury Country Mile. Check out the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce website for more information.

Most weekend activities continue on Sunday, with the parade set for 1:30 p.m. (see below).

Note: The Little Miss/Miss Woodbury Coronation is set for 7 p.m. Monday at .

Live music

GB Leighton is performing from 7-10 p.m. tonight.

The Dweebs will headline Saturday night’s music, 7-9:30 p.m. (Check out a story from last year about .)


The majority of events are held at Ojibway Park, adjacent to .

People can park in the surrounding neighborhoods and at the high school. (There is no parking at WHS on Sunday because of the parade.)

The parade is on Sunday, set to step off at 1:30 p.m. and reach Ojibway Park at about 2:30 p.m.

The parade will be broadcast by the South Washington County Telecommunications Commission, and Patch editor Kris Janisch and Executive Director Alisa Rabin Bell will call it live.

There could be a bit of rain this year. The National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today (high of 86), with a 20 percent chance of rain tonight. Saturday also has a 20 percent chance of rain during the day, and a 40 percent chance that night (high of 81). Sunday's forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of rain during the day (high of 81).

It isn't officially a part of Woodbury Days, but the Woodbury High School soccer team plays its home opener against Hill-Murray on Saturday Afternoon at 1 p.m. at Royal Stadium. If you love soccer or just want to see what it is all about, come on by and support the Royals.
