Rep. JoAnn Ward Authors Projects in House Bonding Bill

Rep. JoAnn Ward has helped construct the House Bonding bill, providing funding for many local projects and improvements.

Today, the House released its $800 million bonding proposal.

Local measures within the bill include funding for the gateway corridor, Brown’s Creek Trail and Fish Creek trail. Rep. Ward authored many bills that are now part of the bonding bill.

“I am really pleased to see the Fish Creek project included,” said Rep. Ward.  “This has been a collaborative effort for nearly twenty years, and now the goal of preserving 62 acres of wildlife and providing new connecting bike and hiking trails is within reach.”

Bonding projects address many of the state’s most needed infrastructure improvements, strengthen the economy and create local jobs.  Interest rates are low and the last General Obligation bonds were sold in August 2012 at an all-time historic low-interest rate of 2.05%. Many projects that are being considered have already been delayed for several years.

“We still have 164,000 Minnesotans who are unemployed, and the bonding bill will create jobs throughout the state,” commented Rep. Ward.  “The time is now to complete these projects to improve our infrastructure and move our state forward.”
