What is a Vertebral Subluxation?

While the actual definition is quite technical, it might be easier to think of vertebral subluxation as being similar to a dental cavity.

Each visit with ChiroWay, we are checking for vertebral subluxation. If subluxation is indicated in our analysis, then we perform a chiropractic adjustment. Many people think we are just “cracking” or attempting to fix the spine, which is incorrect.

While the actual definition of vertebral subluxation is the condition of a vertebra that has lost its proper location with the one above or the one below or both and impinges nerves and interferes with the transmission of mental impulses, it may be easier to think of a vertebral subluxation as being similar to a dental cavity.

Both cavities and subluxation are characteristic with a loss in normal function. They are symptomless in nature, or in other words, you can't feel them. If left alone, they get worse with time. Normal day-to-day stress creates the opportunity for an environment for these to thrive in. The detriments affect the entire body. Perhaps most importantly, both cavities and subluxation can be found in infants, children and teenagers as they too encounter stress on a regular basis.
