Rasmussen Employees to Assist United Way Partners throughout Minnesota July 20

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (July 18, 2012) – Rasmussen College employees are used to changing lives in the classroom, but on Friday, July 20 they will be changing lives in the communities they serve as part of the  Fourth Annual Rasmussen Community Service Day. Approximately 1,500 Rasmussen College employees from the 22 campuses and three central offices will volunteer thousands of hours with nearly two dozen organizations in five states. During the last Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees volunteered an unprecedented 6,500 hours in just one day as part of the company-wide events. This year, Employees from Minnesota’s eight campuses and central office in Bloomington will be rolling up their sleeves to help the United Way and many of its partner agencies and programs throughout the state.

“At Rasmussen College, our mission is to serve our communities by recognizing the diverse needs of individuals – this goes beyond education,” said Rasmussen College President, Kristi Waite. “It is our responsibility to not only help create a positive impact through education, but also through service. We continuously work to participate in programs that benefit a variety of organizations and initiatives, and today is our day to give back.”

 

Nearly 500 Rasmussen College employees throughout Minnesota will spend the afternoon helping United Way partner organizations. The United Way is a worldwide network dedicated to advancing the common good with an emphasis on improving education, achieving financial stability and promoting healthy living.

In St. Cloud, employees will help landscape, weed and cleanup the St. Cloud Children’s Home. Employees in Mankato will be volunteering at the Open Door Health Clinic,  Again Thrift & More and Primrose Retrement Community. In the Twin Cities, employees will spend the afternoon packing goods for local food shelves at Second Harvest Heartland West, interacting with kids at the Boys and Girls Club and volunteering at The Arc, an organization dedicated to securing opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
