Woodbury Community Foundation 'Does a Deal'

The biggest annual fundraiser for the organization was held Nov. 1.

The event, Woodbury Does a Deal, was held Friday, Nov. 1, at the Prom Center in Oakdale.

It was a departure from previous Woodbury Community Foundation fundraisers. The annual fall event used to be the Soiree Spooktakular, though people still dressed in costume for this year's game show-themed gala.

“Something different. Something fresh. Something fun,” Larry Dodge, who headed up volunteering for the event, told Patch before it was held.

The fundraising total hasn’t yet been calculated, according to Roger Green, who called Woodbury Does a Deal “tremendous fun.”

Woodbury Patch blogger Margaret Wachholz posted several photos from the event. She wrote:

How do great organizations bring a structured and sustained sense of fun to the workplace? How could being humorous translate into personal business success? I think I witnessed a balance of fun and serious behavior at the “Woodbury Does a Deal” held on Friday 1st November. Hosted by the Woodbury Community Foundation at the Prom Center in Oakdale, the Woodbury Does a Deal was a Fundraiser & Friend-Raiser. It combined the fun of a Mardi Gras party with the ability to support our community through a live Game Show and a silent auction benefiting Woodbury citizens.

All proceeds benefit the Woodbury Community Foundation.

“Everything locally in our community,” Dodge said. “That’s the cool thing about it.”
