Woodbury Council Approves Liquor Licenses for Angelina’s Kitchen, Aldi

Both measures were quickly approved during Wednesday night's City Council meeting.

The Woodbury Aldi will soon offer 3.2 beer and Angelina’s Kitchen can now serve beer and wine following the Woodbury City Council’s unanimous approval of their liquor license applications. No one spoke during public hearings on both matters at Wednesday night’s council meeting. Background checks came back clear for Aldi and Angelina’s Kitchen. Aldi, a discount grocery chain, opened Oct. 5 in the former Borders space at 8427 Tamarack Bay. Councilwoman Julie Ohs called the approval of the liquor license a “routine matter.” Angelina’s Kitchen, meanwhile, has consolidated its two locations (Angelina’s Café), and plans to add a wine bar.  “Best eggplant parmesan in town, by the way,” said Councilwoman Amy Scoggins, who was recently re-elected …

Alcohol for Aldi, Angelina’s Kitchen, Plus New Development: Woodbury Council Preview

The Woodbury City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday will hold public hearings for liquor licenses for Angelina’s Kitchen and Aldi, as well as possibly approving a measure that would open the door for new housing developments near East Ridge High School. Aldi Opens in Woodbury

About two dozen people were lined up outside the doors Friday morning.

Monique Garza was among those who went through the doors Friday morning as Aldi opened in Woodbury. “I was the first, I think,” said Garza, a Woodbury resident who has shopped at other Aldi stores and was excited to have one closer to home. Aldi, a discount grocery chain, was giving away free samples and had a grilling station set up outside for its first day in Woodbury. About two dozen people were lined up for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. Raffles and free tote bags were also among the Day 1 promotions. Aldi Announces Grand Opening for Woodbury Store

The discount grocer is going in at the former Borders location.

Aldi officials on Friday announced that the opening of a new grocery store in Woodbury is set for Oct. 5. “As Aldi continues to grow in the Twin Cities, we are pleased to open this new Woodbury location to help more customers stretch their dollars even further,” Matt Lilla, Faribault division vice president for Aldi, said in a statement. “As important as price is, there’s only one way to attract and keep shoppers: You have to have quality products. When people try our Aldi exclusive brands, they are surprised by the savings and impressed by the quality.” Work is underway at the former Borders space at Tamarack Village, where Aldi will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. Aldi Looks to Improve Site for New Woodbury Grocery Store

The discount grocer plans to open in the former Borders location.

Aldi is planning to upgrade the former Borders space, where it’s looking to open a new grocery store in Woodbury. The discount grocer has submitted a building permit for interior and exterior improvements at the former bookstore at 8472 Tamarack Bay, according to a memo on the Woodbury City Council’s agenda for Wednesday. The estimated value of the work was not submitted. I shop ALDI in Hudson,Mahtomedi , St Paul and W St Paul. Never been dirty when I stopped there. Its a discount retailer. Do you expect carpet like at Byerly's? Walmart on the other hand is the messiest store in Woodbury. Junk laying around on shelves, endcaps of unorganized products, very hard to find anything or anyone to help you find it. etc etc.. Aldi to Open Grocery Store in Woodbury

The discount grocery chain is set to open in the former Borders location this fall.

Aldi is coming to Woodbury. The discount grocer has reached an agreement to lease the former Borders location at 8472 Tamarack Bay, according to a spokesperson from Aldi’s public relations firm. Construction is slated to begin in the middle of June and the anticipated grand opening date is late September or early October 2012, the spokesperson told Patch. Aldi, known for its low prices, has more than 1,000 stores in 31 states, according to its website. Nearly 95 percent of its products are sold under exclusive Aldi brands.
