In addition to the arrest of Woodbury resident—and former Hill-Murray football coach—Mark Mauer in a prostitution sting in Fridley last month, another community leader also faces charges stemming from the police operation. A member of the St. Croix Catholic School’s Board of Directors was also arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover police officer. A woman was arrested Wednesday in Woodbury’s Homestead Hills neighborhood.
Police believe a woman arrested in Woodbury’s Homestead Hills neighborhood Wednesday may be tied to other residential burglaries in the city. Investigators are “still trying to figure out how extensive those connections are,” said Michelle Okada, Woodbury Police spokeswoman. The suspect, Christine Celeste Burtman, will be charged with two counts of attempted burglary and a count of possessing burglary tools, along with a parole violation, Okada said. One resident was home Wednesday afternoon when the suspect tried to enter her house.
An individual was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Woodbury on suspicion of burglary. Police got the call about a suspicious situation in the city’s Homestead Hills neighborhood at about 12:30 p.m., said Woodbury Police spokeswoman Michelle Okada. As of Wednesday afternoon, police were unsure whether the suspect gained entry to multiple homes, she said, and authorities were still deciding what she may be charged with. The person was arrested along Greenbriar Lane, in the neighborhood near the Bielenberg Sports Center. An Apple Valley man suspected of being a major drug dealer in Washington County was arrested in Woodbury earlier this month and now faces a felony drug charge. Dmitry Anatolyevich Sorkin, 27, allegedly sold $1,500 worth of cocaine to a Washington County Narcotics Unit informant near the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive on Dec. 12, according to the criminal complaint. The informant purchased more than two ounces of the drug—and made plans to buy another four ounces later—following an investigation that led authorities to believe Sorkin was “distributing and selling large amounts of cocaine in the Washington County area,” the complaint says. Timothy Russell Isaacson, 24, was sentenced to 27 months in prison, with credit for 418 days served, following his third-degree burglary conviction. Police were running plates and came across a stolen vehicle Monday night.
Five people—with either warrants or drugs—were arrested Monday night at Tamarack Village. Police were running license plates when they came across a stolen 2005 Dodge Durango at about 7 p.m., Woodbury police spokeswoman Michelle Okada said. Witnesses said police drew their guns, and Okada said officers conducted a “high-risk stop” and followed proper procedure. Woodbury police have arrested a man who allegedly pulled a pistol and robbed a West St. Paul man of $350 during a Sept. 6 incident that began at Central Park. Investigators believe the suspect could be linked to similar thefts at Central Park since June, Cmdr. Jay Alberio told Patch.
