Woodbury's East Ridge High School Delivers Beauty in the 'Beast'

Production featured elaborate costumes, a revolving castle set and few empty seats.

East Ridge High School wrapped up its production of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast last week, playing to full houses at The Loft Stage. With a capacity of 928, that's no small feat—but it's nothing compared to the effort put into the play's production. Typically, East Ridge theater coordinator Amanda Hestwood is the director for school productions with a team of  assistants. But due to the size and complexity of this show, she decided to only serve as artistic director, and shared the directorial duties with Jimmy Stocco III, the technical director. "There are so many special effects involved in this production," Hestwood said. "And the set itself is 32 feet deep and revolves 360 degrees." A beast in itself, one might say. Stocco …
