Authorities Confirm Name of Mother Who Jumped from I-94 Bridge

Witnesses say the 48-year-old River Falls, Wis., woman stopped her vehicle on the shoulder of the bridge Thursday morning, left her 11-year-old daughter inside, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death on the frozen St. Croix River.

St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts confirmed Friday morning the name of the Wisconsin woman who jumped to her death from the Interstate 94 bridge onto the frozen St. Croix River after leaving her young daughter in the car. Molly Crumley, 48, of River Falls, pulled onto the shoulder of eastbound I-94 on the St. Croix River bridge, exited her vehicle, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27.        Related: Woman Leaps to Death from Interstate 94 Bridge Over St. Croix River O'Connell Family Funeral Home took initial custody of her body after crews recovered it from the river. Woman Leaps to Death from Interstate 94 Bridge Over St. Croix River

Witnesses say a woman stopped her vehicle on the shoulder of the bridge, left her 11-year-old daughter inside, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death.

Witnesses say a woman stopped her vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 94 at the St. Croix River bridge, left her 11-year-old daughter inside, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death just before 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. The 48-year-old Pierce County, Wis., woman's body was recovered from the ice-covered river by the use of an air boat. Her identity is being withheld until her relatives can be notified, according to a press release fromt the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office. The 11-year-old girl is now in the care of other family members.  The incident remains under investigation. Is anyone making sure that the daughter is receiving some professional, ongoing treatment? This would have been horribly traumatizing for anyone to have witnessed this, let alone it being the 11 year old child of the woman.   more ›
