District 833 Spanish Immersion Proposal Could Force a School Closure

Parents will be able to comment on the plans on Tuesday evening at Park High School.

Some District 833 parents are concerned that their children will have to transfer out of their current schools with the potential expansion of a popular Spanish immersion program. On Dec. 16, the South Washington County School Board is expected to decide whether to expand the K-5 program from 60 students per grade level to 100. If the program expands it will either share space with two elementary schools or get its own building. A new building for the program, called Nuevas Fronteras, would mean that one of the district elementary schools—Crestview, Armstrong, Woodbury or Royal Oaks—would close.
