A South Haven, Minn., man was booked on suspicion of DWI after being arrested in Woodbury earlier this week. In addition to DWI, he will also likely be charged with second-degree test refusal. Here’s the catch. After providing a urine sample for police at the Washington County Jail, he drank it. “Without gagging,” said Woodbury Public Safety spokeswoman Michelle Okada. The 23-year-old, who will likely be charged soon, was stopped at the 6000 block of Hudson Road at about 1:35 p.m. Monday, May 13, Okada said. A Texas man, who has three previous DWI convictions on his record, faces two felony charges in connection with an April 20 incident in Woodbury.
A Texas man with three previous DWI convictions on his record was charged with two felony counts following his April 20 arrest in Woodbury. Police came upon Larry Villarreal, 32, of Houston, asleep in his car at about 1:40 a.m. April 20, according to the criminal complaint. The vehicle was stopped and facing northbound in the southbound lane at Tamarack Road and Bielenberg Drive, the complaint says, and the engine was running, the brake lights were on and loud music was playing. Police tried to make contact with the driver, who was unresponsive, and an officer eventually reached inside the car and put it in park, according to the complaint. Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from April 16-22.
The following information was obtained from recent police reports. Tailpipes and scrapers (valued at nearly $1,500 together) were reported stolen from two dump trucks at a construction site at Bailey Road and Mile Drive. Workers at St. Croix Cleaners called police after someone dropped off a coat with blood and dirt on it. Police made contact with the coat’s owner, who said she and her husband were jumped by a group of men while at Club Cancun on April 14. She had visible injuries and a report was on file with the St. Paul Police Department. Two people were arrested near Interstate 94 and Radio Drive after reports of suspicious situations at Home Depot and JCPenney led police to pull over their car. Lance Thomas Meyer, 21, faces a felony DWI charge.
A Woodbury man who has three prior DWI convictions told police he was “acting like an idiot” after officers saw him doing doughnuts in a parking lot and stopped him a little after 2 a.m. on March 16. That’s according to the criminal complaint against Lance Thomas Meyer, 21, who now faces a felony DWI charge stemming from the mid-March arrest. An officer on routine patrol saw a white Cadillac cross from Wild Bill’s Sports Saloon to the Life Time Fitness parking lot and proceed to do doughnuts, according to the complaint. The officer then watched the car pass by the Holiday gas station and proceed onto Radio Drive without signaling, the complaint says. The following information was obtained from recent police reports. A resident at the 7100 block of Foxboro Lane North reported that a pet-entry door on a door of her home had been damaged while she was out of town. A resident reported that there were several wolves in the Stonemill Farms neighborhood. Police were called to a home on Springbook Place on a report of a burglary in progress—a resident reported seeing a masked burglar dressed in black inside the house. However, there was no sign of forced entry and no evidence a burglary had occurred. Police interviewed the resident later, and she admitted she may not have seen a burglar, but came home and a door was unsecured and she got scared, and didn’t expect such a large police response, …

Jon Timothy Almquist was given seven years of probation.
A Woodbury man who was arrested in March 2012 on suspicion of his fifth DWI since 2002 was recently sentenced to seven years of probation. A 3.5-year prison sentence was stayed on the grounds that Jon Timothy Almquist, 39, remain law abiding, complete a repeat-offender program and submit to random testing, among other conditions of his release. Almquist was arrested during the early morning hours of March 8, 2012, after employees at SuperAmerica called police about a customer who was slurring his speech and stumbling in the parking lot, according to the criminal complaint. There were two last year, according to figures provided by the Woodbury Public Safety Department.
Among the more than 300 people arrested on suspicion of DWI in Minnesota over the New Year’s Eve timeframe, there were six in Woodbury. That’s a slight jump from the two who were busted for drinking and driving last year, according to numbers provided by the Woodbury Public Safety Department. From Dec. 1, 2011, to Jan. 1, 2012, there were 19 people arrested on DWI charges. This past month that number was 26. The total number of DWI offenses in Woodbury in 2011 was 130; for 2012 it was 150. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety on Wednesday reported that at least 300 people were arrested for DWI statewide on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, according to its preliminary arrest information.
