Entrepreneur and consultant Barbara Warren will serve as the business group’s new leader starting later this month, the story says. “She was definitely our candidate that certainly goes above and beyond with experience,” Executive Committee Chair Heidi Bardwell told the newspaper. “She brings a wealth of information to our chamber and will continue to let our chamber grow.” Bardwell replaces Travis Martinson, the first-ever executive director in the history of the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. Martinson stepped down in October, taking a job with her local church in Burnsville. The organization has “grown into a chamber worthy of the…

Robert Kreischer will assume his new role on Aug. 1.
The Math and Science Academy announced Tuesday that the school has a new executive director, Robert Kreischer. The Math and Science Academy Board of Directors and a seven-member search committee—comprised of representatives from MSA staff and parent groups—engaged in a three-month search for a new executive director. In March, former director Paul Simone told the school he would not seek to extend his contract after the school year. “Assisting in the start-up process, teaching, and subsequently being the director of the Math and Science Academy was the absolute fulfillment of a long time professional goal for me,” Simone wrote on the Woodbury school’s website. “However, part of this goal requires that I recognize when I am no longer …

Travis Martinson reflects on the group’s successes and the challenges she’s faced since taking over as the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce’s first executive director.
It’s been almost a year since the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce named its first executive director. Travis Martinson was hired Jan. 3, 2011, to head up the local business group, coming over from the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce. Martinson recently sat down with Woodbury Patch to report back on her first year on the job. Woodbury Patch: How are things going? Travis Martinson: Things are going really well, despite the economy and this being the first year having this role. We kind of rocked it out. We had 100 new members at the end of the year, close to 110. We met or exceeded our goals and have a strong renewal rate. (The chamber was up to 355 members as of Dec. 28.) It was a very successful year for our organization as a whole while other…
