The Woodbury Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish both.
The Woodbury Fire Department extinguished two grass fires that broke out along Interstate 94 on Tuesday afternoon. The first call came in at about 12:30 p.m., and the second fire was going by the time crews arrived, said Michelle Okada, Public Safety spokeswoman. Both fires, which sent plumes of smoke in the air and prompted several emergency calls, were on the north side of the freeway, she said. One was west of Inwood Avenue (Radio Drive). The other was about a quarter mile east near Interstate 694, Okada said. Firefighters were able to extinguish both by about 12:50 p.m. April 30, and crews were gone by about 1 p.m. It’s unclear at this point what started the fires, or if one started the other, Okada said. The fire broke out at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the 10000 block of Kingsfield Lane.
Authorities on Monday were still investigating the cause of a major fire that demolished a duplex Saturday in Woodbury. The Woodbury Fire Department got the call at about 4:30 p.m. April 27. No one was hurt in the fire, at the 10000 block of Kingsfield Lane, and the families impacted declined assistance from the Red Cross, Public Safety officials said. “The majority of the structure is gone,” said Woodbury Fire Capt. Chris Klein. He called it a “total loss” for both units. The owner of the unit that initially caught fire called 911, and the wind on Saturday made it difficult to fight the fire, Klein said. A 50-square-foot patch of grass in a nearby marsh area also caught fire. The exteriors of nearby homes, which were evacuated, also …

The incident happened a little before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A Good Samaritan on Tuesday afternoon used a fire extinguisher to put out a car fire in the parking lot of the Wendy’s in Woodbury. The engine compartment of a Wendy’s employee’s car somehow caught fire, but a passerby had the extinguisher handy, and it was out by the time crews arrived, said Woodbury Fire Cmdr. John Wallgren. The Woodbury Fire Department got the call about a fire at Tamarack Village a just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, according to public safety spokeswoman Michelle Okada. Firefighters took photos and were investigating the cause. The man who put out the fire may have been a contractor and happened to have an extinguisher in his vehicle, Wallgren said. He didn’t have much of a reaction to the incident, Wallgren said. “…
