Have you run into those pesky Japanese beetles in your yard?
The leaves on your trees not looking as lush as they should? Japanese beetles have been spotted in the Twin Cities, including Woodbury. "They will feed on the leaves... they feed between the veins, a kind of feeding called 'skeletonizing.' They also feed on flower blossoms," University of Minnesota Entomologist Jeffrey Hahn told KARE 11. "They start coming out, basically, the first week of July. So, think of the Fourth of July when Japanese beetles will come out and then they are active for the rest of the summer. I mean, we will see them into September." M Studio Flower Affair looks to take on the old flower shop's customers.
Woodbury’s M Studio Flower Affair has purchased the former Kissing 2 Lips flower shop. The move was made primarily to absorb Kissing 2 Lips customers after Christie Lewis, former owner of Kissing 2 Lips, retired. “I wanted to take care of her customers and she was looking for someone to treat her customers the same way she would,” said Meghan Kelliher, M Studio Flower Affair owner. The old Kissing 2 Lips phone number goes to M Studio Flower Affair, and the two websites will soon be linked, Kelliher said. “That’s kind of the big project for March.” There won't be any major changes at M Studio Flower Affair following the purchase, Kelliher said. Woodbury Patch recently sat down with the owner of a local flower shop to see what’s happening as the holiday approaches.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, Woodbury Patch asked Meghan Kelliher, who owns M Studio Flower Affair at City Walk in Woodbury, about the flower business during the holiday. Woodbury Patch: Is this the busiest time of year for florists? Meghan Kelliher: This time of year and Mother’s Day. They’re kind of neck and neck. But everybody has a mother. Patch: What do people usually buy? Kelliher: Red roses. It’s kind of comical because you can have a big thing of flowers of all different colors, and if you have one red flower in there, that will go first.
