The Woodbury Trader Joe’s has sold liquor—national labels along with its own brands—for about a week and a half, Moss said. Locations on the West Coast, where the store was founded, have long sold liquor in addition to beer and wine, Moss said. The response from customers so far has been positive, he said. “It keeps people from having to make two trips,” Moss said. The city council got an update on the course during its recent budget workshop.
Woodbury has been looking to improve the financial standing of the city-owned Eagle Valley Golf Course. And, like a 9 iron from the fairway, things are looking up, for this summer, at least. Revenue at the course was up 34 percent over 2011 through Aug. 15, while rounds increased 37 percent, officials said during a recent Woodbury City Council budget workshop. Membership in the course’s Royal Club was also up by more than 250 over last year’s numbers. One of the main factors for the uptick was a change in the rate structure at Eagle Valley, according to Community Development Director Dwight Picha.
