The new pizza shop is going in at Woodbury’s City Centre.
Construction at the site of a new Punch Pizza in Woodbury is expected to begin in the next week or so. The original opening date was slated for late June or early July, but the company is now shooting for early September. The process “to get everything worked out with the site” took longer than anticipated, according to Jenny Nyquist, senior manager. “But we are excited to finally get construction started,” she told Patch. Punch Pizza also had to provide the city with additional information on how its wood-fire ovens work, she said. Punch’s Neapolitan pizzas cook in an 800-degree wood-fire oven and come out in 90 seconds. It will be located in the same building as FedEx/Kinkos at the northwest corner of Radio Drive and Valley Creek Road. …
The restaurant is part of the Bielenberg Sports Center expansion project.
The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday examined plans for a new restaurant at the Bielenberg Sports Center. Gartner Restaurant Holdings has been selected to handle food service at the new complex, which is currently under construction. A restaurant would be built on the second floor of the new lobby, and Gartner Restaurant Holdings would also run a snack bar on the first floor. Greg Gartner said his company has experience providing food service at other sports facilities and the concept for the Woodbury space was partially inspired by restaurants at the Xcel Energy Center. Other municipal sports facilities are including restaurants, said Bob Klatt, Woodbury Parks and Recreation director. “The trend is going that way,” he said. The plans …

The new restaurant is part of the expansion project currently underway.
The company chosen to provide food service at the expanded Bielenberg Sports Center envisions a full-scale restaurant on the second floor of the lobby. Plans call for a new field house, two-story lobby, outdoor rink and improvements to the existing ice arenas, which will remain in place. Construction is underway. The Woodbury City Council during a workshop meeting Wednesday, May 15, is expected to examine the concept for the new restaurant and concession area. The proposal from Gartner Restaurant Holdings features a “full-service restaurant on the second floor, a concession stand on the first floor and food service carts and potential service in the surrounding fields…
It would be the third Asian buffet to occupy the 8340 City Centre Drive location in about a year.
It’s been the Atlantic Buffet and is now the Teppanyaki Buffet. And another Asian restaurant plans to bring its buffet to Woodbury’s City Centre. New Dynasty Buffet plans to take over the space May 15, manager Vivian Liu said. The change will include an improved menu and sushi bar, Liu said, and a new head cook will be hired, as well. New Dynasty Buffet is coming from Austin, Minn., where it’s called China Star, she said. The restaurant also partners with Bloomington's 98 Pounds Buffet, from which the Woodbury spot will take its sushi recipes, Liu said. Asked about the recent changes to the space and how New Dynasty Buffet will be successful there, Liu said: “We will try very hard and bring the best food and service we can.” There are …

The restaurant was completely renovated and has a number of features unique to Woodbury.
The Woodbury Cowboy Jack’s is set to open Monday, May 6. The space—which has seen several restaurants come and go over the past few years—has been completely renovated. “We tried to bring the After Midnight Group’s flavor to it and we’re really excited about it,” said Chris Diebold, owner. About $1 million was sunk into the renovation, which features 38,000 square feet of old barn wood, two fireplaces, shuffleboard courts and Western décor. The bar was also moved to the other side of the restaurant. “We could have just slapped a coat of paint on it, but that’s not what we do,” Diebold said. Volleyball courts are being installed (teams have already signed up and the leagues are set to begin in June) and there’s also a roulette-like charity-…

The burger shop plans to to open this year. The Woodbury Jake’s Wayback Burgers will be the first in Minnesota.
The home of the “triple triple” is coming to Woodbury. Jake’s Wayback Burgers—which features a nine-patty concoction—is planning to open at 8470 City Centre Drive, where Kelly Gallery is now located. The framing shop is moving to a currently vacant space next door to the City Centre Caribou Coffee. The Woodbury location will be the first Jake’s Wayback Burgers to open in Minnesota, said Gillian Maffeo, director of marketing. But the company is eyeing other spots in the state. “We’re expanding like crazy,” Maffeo said. The menus vary by location, but all feature signature burgers and sandwiches, fries and onion rings, hotdogs, a variety of shakes and “Irish nachos,” Maffeo said.
